Finding Your Edge: The Warrior Goddess Lesson That Changed My Life

I

Daily Lotus Reflections

There are moments in every journey when something calls to us before we understand why. A nudge. A whisper. A pull that doesn’t quite make sense to the mind, but the soul recognizes instantly.

In 2015, I was scrolling through Facebook when I began seeing image after image for something called Warrior Goddess Training. I didn’t know much about it. I hadn’t read the book. I didn’t know anyone in the community. But something in the imagery, the words, the tone—something ancient, feminine, and fiercely honest—reached into me.

Then I saw it:
Warrior Goddess Wisdom Weekend.
Austin, Texas. January 2016.

Without logic or explanation, I felt a full-body yes.

I booked my spot.
I booked my flight.
I booked a hotel room.
And I bought the book to read on the plane.

I didn’t know a single person who would be there. I didn’t know why I was going. I didn’t yet understand the deeper reason I felt drawn—magnetized—to this work. Looking back now, I know this kind of calling is not coincidence. It is synchronicity. Soul recognition. A deeper truth inside guiding us toward what we need before we know we need it.

That weekend would become one of the most life-changing experiences of my life. And over the years that followed, I devoted myself to the path and the community, returning again and again to the practices that helped me reclaim parts of myself I didn’t know were missing.

One of those transformative teachings came in the form of fire.

And this is the story of the night everything shifted.

The Warrior Goddess Teaching: Intention Creates Reality

In Warrior Goddess Training with HeatherAsh Amara, firewalking is not a stunt. It is not a test of bravery. It is not an act of rebellion or recklessness.

It is intention made visible.

It is a ritual of alignment.
A confrontation with fear.
A living mirror that reflects your inner truth back to you.

Fire walkers understand this: the difference between burning and not burning is not just physical. Science tells us burning coals have low thermal conductivity. The body can withstand short contact. It’s real.

But the transformation isn’t physical.

It happens in the instant your conditioned belief—fire equals pain—collides with a deeper truth emerging inside you—intention shapes reality.

Firewalking is not about defying the laws of nature.

It is about defying the limits you once believed were unbreakable.

The Night Everything Shifted

There was a night during Warrior Goddess Training I will never forget.

We gathered as a tribe beneath a clear Texas sky, stars pulsing overhead, drums echoing through the cold air. One of our sisters was preparing for heart surgery, and the fear in her eyes told the story of the unknown.

So together we decided:
We would walk the fire for her.
With intention.
With devotion.
With our combined breath and courage.

The coals were raked into a long, glowing bed. Red. Orange. Alive. The heat radiated upward in waves. And yet in the center of the ritual, there was a stillness. A sense that something sacred was unfolding.

One by one, women stepped onto the coals.
Stepping with prayer.
Stepping with conviction.
Stepping with love.

And then it was my turn.

Three Minutes on Fire

I stepped onto the fire.

I did not run.
I did not walk fast.
I did not immediately leave.

Instead—I stayed.

For almost three full minutes.

Not out of pride.
Not because I felt immune to heat.
Not because I wanted to impress anyone.

I stayed because something deeper held me there.

I stood for her—the sister preparing for surgery.
I stood for the child within me who had known fear for far too long.
I stood for every version of me that once believed she would burn.
I stood for my own becoming.

The fire didn’t burn me.
Not a blister.
Not a mark.

The heat was there, but it was not threatening. It was instruction.
It was truth.
It was presence.

It was the Warrior Goddess knowing rising in me.

The Magic of Firewalking Is Not the Fire

The magic is the moment your body realizes it can do what your mind once believed was impossible.

The magic is the rewiring.
The reframing.
The reclamation.

Firewalking teaches you that intention reorganizes reality.

Fear doesn’t disappear—you meet it with clarity.
Danger doesn’t vanish—you approach it with presence.
The impossible doesn’t become less impossible—you become more you.

When intention leads, the body follows.
When belief shifts, the nervous system softens.
When you step through the fire, you emerge changed.

You begin trusting yourself in ways you never have before.

The Lesson I Carry Forward — And Want to Share With You

That firewalking night taught me that the edges we fear are not the places we stop.
They are the places we begin.

The fire taught me that:

  • Fear is not the enemy
  • Intention is the guide
  • Your body listens to the story your mind believes
  • You can step into the unknown and remain intact
  • You can stay longer than you ever imagined
  • You can rewrite your own limits
  • You can face heat without burning
  • You can stand inside what terrifies you and discover your strength

The fire didn’t change.

I did.

And once you experience that kind of embodied truth, you cannot go back to the smaller version of yourself that once believed the world was fixed and your limits were predetermined.

Finding Your Edge

Your fire may not be glowing coals.

Your fire might be:
Leaving a relationship
Setting a boundary
Publishing your story
Healing trauma
Choosing rest
Saying no
Changing careers
Starting your business
Telling the truth
Reclaiming your body
Standing up for your child self

Fire is anything that scares you yet calls to you at the same time.

Standing at that edge is where you discover who you really are.

And hear this:
You do not burn when you walk with intention.
You rise.
